Our church choir at present has nine members, including Karen Yuzyk, our choir director. There are officially four sopranos, one alto, one tenor and two bass/baritones. However, since a small group has to be versatile, the sopranos sometimes become altos, tenors become basses and vice versa. Karen becomes a singer as well on occasions.
The choir usually sings one anthem and a communion song during the service. We have quite a large repertoire. Over the past nine years, since we started to keep a record, we have sung 250 different anthems or hymns. Some we have sung only once, others, more than a dozen times.
One of our choir members, Rick Peters with his guitar, sure adds to the beauty of some of our hymns.
Twice a year our pastor or worship assistant conducts a Sunday service at Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home and the choir goes there too. We sing at least one anthem and lead those present in hymn singing. That is also a rewarding experience for us and one that is appreciated by the residents and staff.
We have a small choir, but one that enjoys singing together and with our songs give praise to God. Also, as one member puts it, it is stress relief and therapy after a busy day.
If you like to sing, come join us! Choir practice is held every Thursday at 7:30 PM
